Weekend Weathervanes
First Congregational Church of West Haven, CT.
Now I know what to do with those photos – “thanks” to Heather Wilkinson Rojo at Nutfield Genealogy; she blogs Weekly Wednesday Weathervanes in New Hampshire. Please check out her page and enjoy the many unusual weathervane photos and be entertained with a history lesson. It’s amazing at what you can encounter in your travels – You Just Need To Look Up!
Feather / Arrow Weathervane sporting a live bonus!
It was a beautiful day today, and in driving by the green of West Haven, CT., I decided to finally capture the beauty of the church with it’s feather/arrow weathervane. When I zoomed in on the very top, I noticed that there was someone sitting up there… the eye in the sky looked to be a hawk… surveying the grounds for maybe a squirrel to zoom in on. He didn’t seem to be in any hurry to leave, so that left me plenty of time to capture him and the weathervane before he flew away.
Hawk sitting high on the weathervane!
He didn’t seem to mind that I was photographing him… he continued to survey the grounds with his eye in the sky perch!

This is such a beautiful church on the green of West Haven… and celebrating it’s 300th anniversary this year.
