Weekend Weathervanes: Essex Pirate Ship

Weekend Weathervanes

Now I know what to do with those photos – “thanks” to Heather Wilkinson Rojo at Nutfield Genealogy; she blogs Weekly Wednesday Weathervanes  in New Hampshire.  Please check out her page and enjoy the many unusual weathervane photos and be entertained with a history lesson. It’s amazing at what you can encounter in your travels – You Just Need To Look Up!

Essex Pirate Ship

We spend many Thursday evenings walking the main street of Essex, Connecticut as we head to the dock for music.

I spotted this ship above one of the buildings on the main street of town.

Everything is ship related in Essex… awesome model of the Oliver Cromwell!

The Griswold Inn… If you’ve ever watched the ’70’s gothic soap opera “Dark Shadows”… it was filmed here!

The Collinsport Inn is a three-story inn located on the main street in the seaport town of Collinsport, Maine…. but actuality it is The Griswold Inn in Essex, Connecticut, where much exterior footage was filmed for Dark Shadows. Whenever we’re there, I often visualize Barnabas Collins walking the streets. I think the next time we go for Thursday summer music there, we’ll have dinner at The Griswold Inn.
