2019: 52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks – Week 8 (Feb. 18- Feb. 24) Family Photo

I “first” joined Amy Johnson Crow’s 52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks on its “first” year in 2014… and what a whirlwind year that was… writing, editing and researching daily for 365 days! As much as I wanted to continue the following year, I found that I didn’t have the time to continue another year with that type of research… although I did continue blogging and writing stories at my own pace, which allowed me to write on other topics as well as family stories when ideas came my way… but I’ve often missed it. The first year were no specific weekly prompts like today… but I’m taking a different spin on them. There will be some posts on a specific ancestor, but most will be memories that spring from those prompts. Week 8 (Feb 18- Feb. 24) Family Photo

I came across a blog post from Randy Seaver’s blog  and it fit in perfect for my “family photo” weekly 8 prompt… so with a slight change of using only one family photo, I twisted it into family photos of only “one” line… unbroken!

And in Randy’s words… ” yes you will hum the music mentioned”!

Your mission this week, should you decide to accept it (cue the Mission Impossible music!), is to…

1)   How many generations do you have photographs or portraits of your ancestors and descendants?  It can be any line…it just can’t be broken!

2)  Tell us the line, or better yet, show us the unbroken line.  Provide birth-death years, and the approximate date that the photograph or portrait was made.

I’ve chosen to take this challenge for Week 8 – Family Photo… taking a slight twist back through my ancestor “Bryan” family unbroken line of photos… begining with my oldest generation photo of James Bryan.

Generation 1:

James Bryan (4x grandfather 1791-1885), daughter Parthenia (4x aunt: 1840-1934), and Elizabeth Cain (4x grandmother 1800-1882) (I believe this photo to have been taken between 1870 – 1880)

Berrien Clark Bryan (3x grandfather 1823-1923) and Berilla Priscilla Free (3x grandmother 1828-1898) (Photo taken abt. 1870)

William Madison Bryan (2x grandfather 1849-1921) and Francis Jemima A. “Fannie” Fortner (2x grandmother 1851-1893) (Painting made bef. 1893)

William Clark Bryan (2x grandfather 1876-1954), son Jewell Bryan (2x uncle 1921-2010) and Sara Turner (2x grandmother 1881-1939) (Photo taken abt. 1925)

Paul Pinkney Bryan (grandfather 1903-1990) and Evelyn Irene Little (grandmother 1906-1987) (Photo taken abt. 1960)

Harold “Clayton” Bryan (father 1928-1983), Helen Rebecca McKinley (mother – 1930 – ) Jeanne Lee Bryan (Me – 1952 -) (Photo taken abt. 1961)

I guess my mother wasn’t pleased with the photo shoot at Olan Mills as I found a couple different styles of this photo. I had the top one colorized in wanting to see the color of her embroidery work she did on my dress

My mother embroidered several of the dresses she sewed for me!

7th Generation:
