Now I know what to do with those photos – “thanks” to Heather Wilkinson Rojo at Nutfield Genealogy; she blogs Weekly Wednesday Weathervanes in New Hampshire. Please check out her page and enjoy the many unusual weathervane photos and often be entertained with a history lesson. It’s amazing at what you can encounter in your travels – You Just Need To Look Up!
Swordfish Flying in Charlestown, R.I.
The Swordfish are flying in Charlestown, Rhode Island
In looking at this photo at home, I believe it to be a homemade wooden weathervane and I’m guessing it’s a Swordfish… which is what it looks like to me! But if you are a fisherman and can correctly identify it… if I’m wrong… do let me know!
It fly’s graciously over “DeRosa’s Wharf” at a private residence on RT. 1 in Charlestown, Rhode Island. We enjoy Sunday rides out this way when we venture to Rhode Island…. usually to satisfy our “Walt’s Roast Beef” fix! Have you ever eaten at one?
Whoever owns this cozy outbuilding has done a fabulous job in decorating and creating the wooden weathervane…. kudos to whoever made it; it so fits in with the beach area nearby. I’m always wondering what people think when they spot me with my camera taking a photograph of something on their property! And I’m always waiting for someone to come running out waving their hands and yelling….. So far it’s all been good!
