Now I know what to do with those photos – “thanks” to Heather Wilkinson Rojo at Nutfield Genealogy; she blogs Weekly Wednesday Weathervanes in New Hampshire. Please check out her page and enjoy the many unusual weathervane photos and often be entertained with a history lesson. It’s amazing at what you can encounter in your travels – You Just Need To Look Up!
Milking Cow on Rt. 1 in Bridgeport CT.
The Ol’ Milking Cow Weathervane
Heading home from a book sale in Southport…. we decided to drive RT. 1 instead of I-95 and just enjoy a few sites. When we hit Bridgeport, I spotted this funky… funny cow that reminded me of something out of Lil “Abner. I’m still not sure if the milking cow is just eating grass, and those are only tumbleweeds on both ends… or its owner is propped up on the ends… waiting. Doesn’t it look like an ol’ farmer kicked back laying there on a straw bale picking his guitar… or is it just me… wishful thinking!
The “milking cow” on the top cupola is above several businesses in this brick building. Now, what was here originally to want a milking cow weathervane? Not the karate or cleaning business which is there now.
